About Mary Kay Place: She was born on September 23 in Tulsa, Oklahoma and was a graduate from University of Tulsa. She is an actress and her first big break came in playing country-western singer Loretta Haggers on cult TV’s Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman (1976) for which she won an Emmy for Best Supporting Actress in a comedy series. She is well known for a variety of film roles including Being John Malkovich, The Big Chill, Citizen Ruth, TV’s Grey’s Anatomy, and many, many more.
